The Mycobacterial Infection Research Unit (MIRU) within the Division of Infectious Diseases at University Hospital Frankfurt is searching for a motivated PhD student. The MIRU employs a wide range of methodological approaches to improve the management of mycobacterial diseases such as tuberculosis and non-tuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) disease.
We are seeking a dedicated PhD candidate with a biomedical background to join the STRIDE-TB project. This project focuses on a systematic review and meta-analysis of sex- and gender-specific differences in the epidemiology, diagnosis, and treatment of tuberculosis (TB) and is funded by the BMBF (German Federal Ministry of Education and Research – Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung). The vacancy is currently limited to three years.
Your Role:
- Conduct systematic literature review and meta-analyses on TB epidemiology and treatment with
a focus on sex and gender specific differences - Critically evaluate existing clinical and epidemiological evidence
- Extract Data and conduct statistical analysis
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary and international research teams
- Prepare manuscripts for publication in
peer-reviewed journals - Contribute to data synthesis, interpretation, and presentation at scientific conferences
- Co-supervisorship of medical students
